Hello there, my name is Alon, but you can call me Alon. I am the Retro Revival. Below is a picture of me in my natural habitat where I repair, modify, and create devices of nostalgia.

It all began in the fall of the early 2000's. I was put into a public school after living a life generally free of technology. One day when the recess bell rang I stormed outside to play but quickly found myself without my classmates. When I went back inside I found them all huddled around the classroom computer. I couldn't see the old CRT behind the wall of people at first, but once I was near enough I saw something that would change my life forever. They were playing a turn-based Dragon Ball Z game with the most incredible graphics and animations, all in an internet browser which previously only held boring words and pictures that meant nothing to me.

The game can still be played through the web archive with a browser that supports flash like Safari or IE11. Enjoy.

I wanted to have my own PC, but life had other plans for me. My old man brought me a broken computer one day, a donation from his brother, and told me that I could keep it if I managed to repair it. I emptied my desk and started working immediately.

If you expected me to tell you that I managed to fix a computer when I was seven, well I have some unfortunate news. What I did manage to do was shock myself a dozen times and cut my hand while playing with the spinning CPU fan. On top of that and the obvious brain damage I incurred, I also picked up a love for destroying taking apart and studying all manner of electronic and electrical devices. It was only some years later that I stopped being a force of destruction and began to tip the scales in the opposite direction.

In 2024, when I was once again settling down into life after a few years of travel, I saw a post on the local subreddit where a nice gentleman was looking for someone in the area to install some mods on a couple of Nintendo 64's. I did not have any equipment, nor had I worked on electronics for some time, but I was immediately inspired to get back into it. Soldering is like riding a bike, once you inhale those fumes you never unl͇ͣe̟̓á̩r̩ͬn̰̏ ̳͊ḥ̌o̺ͭw̰̓ ͉̊t͚̋ỏ̮ ͍͑d̜ͩo͚ͤ ̯̒i̗ͯt͕̂.

I reached out and said I would be happy to do it, and when they agreed I ran down to the local electronics shop to purchase the cheapest equipment I could find before the consoles were to get dropped off. I made a staggering profit of -25 Euros on that project, but motivation was high. I was locked into seventh gear and speeding down the track towards a massive wall called my future.
